The Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel Gets Revamped

broughtonHOTELS is overseeing a multi-million dollar make-over of the 190 room Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel (12825 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, 91604; 818.769.4700). The eight acre hotel property will have a contemporary new design, that pays homage to its mid-century roots while creating a new boutique hotel experience for the 21st century. The renovation now in progress will be complete in fall 2013.

Located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, the Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel has taken on an iconic status in its 50 plus years of greeting guests and travelers from around the world. Set back from Ventura Blvd., the hotel is reminiscent of a Hollywood hideaway with a lush landscape, retro Patio Café and a bungalow-style design which features hotel rooms surrounding an Olympic-size swimming pool.

Aimee Winkler from Los Angeles-based Partners in Design is overseeing the new design of the hotel. The lobby  will have a dramatic new look that is modern, bright, and open. The historic “check-in cage” has been replaced with a soft grey stone with vertical panels which are back lit and change color throughout the day.  Also by checkin-in, is a 80” flat screen television which will be spotlighting a unique helicopter view of Studio City.

For the new guest rooms and corridors, Winkler has chosen white, orange and a subtle grey. The rooms feature comfortable new beds, custom-designed bedding with a retro design, flat screen televisions and personally operated drapes. Additionally, each room now has a large desk, lounge chair, and the bathrooms have been remodeled with white sparkle quartz vanity tops.

The pool area will have a Palm Springs hotel/Hollywood feel. The Olympic-sized swimming pool  will have two exclusive cabanas. Each cabana has modular lounge seating, flat screen televisions, wireless internet, USB chargers and drapes which can be shut for privacy. In addition, the pool will be refreshed with a new bar area and furnishings with bright colors like tangerine and lime.
