Dave Reiss (A-Frame, Sunny Spot, littlefork), Carol Ann and Moïse Emquies opened up Salt Air (1616 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice, 90291), their new seafood restaurant, on Friday night. Living in the previous Capri/Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing spot, this place is beachy with whitewashed brick walls, bistro marble tables, and open kitchen.
Chef Greg A. Daniels (Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Perry St in New York) is behind the food that feeds 75 in the dining room and 12 at the bar. He’s serving up lobster rolls; olive oil poached salmon; fish skin chips with harissa; roasted cauliflower with pistachio pesto; and house roasted chicken dish.
Cocktails are by Brian Butler (A-Frame, Sunny Spot), but are only made with beer and wine. No full liquor license here, but try the passionfuit and sour beer Shandy or the sherry and hibiscus Cobbler. Open Sunday-Tuesday, 5-10 pm; Wednesday & Thursday from 5-11 pm; and Friday & Saturday from 5 pm-midnight.
