Connie & Ted’s (8171 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood, 90046), the anticipated seafood spot from chef Michael Cimarusti (Providence), is almost ready for its debut on June 4th. Named after Cimarusti’s grandparents, the kitchen will be run by Providence chef de cuisine, Sam Baxter, and the bar, with 24 taps, is run by by barista turned bartender Laura Lindsay (Intelligentsia, 1886).
Cimarusti wants to focus on classic seafood dishes, and you can expect two kinds of lobster rolls (hot & cold), fried fish sandwiches, three types of chowder (red, white, and cream-based), Deviled oysters, oysters Rockefeller, Portuguese fish stew, fried clams, clam fritters, steamers with drawn butter and clam broth, and stuffies (linguica- and breadcrumb-stuffed Quahog clams) with “traditional sauces.” A total of 16 oyster variations are planned from the raw bar and live lobster tanks will have your dinner swimming around. There are also burgers and steaks, with all bread baked in house.
This casual is clean and modern with plenty of light and captain’s windows. It’s a modern take on a seafood shack. So order up a Sailor’s Delights (dry gin, strawberries, rhubarb, egg white, soda) and get ready to chow down.
