041 Bacaro

Culver City is the place to be these days for restaurants. Right next door to Rush Street and LYFE Kitchen (which I am obsessed with) comes 041 Bacaro (9552 Washington Blvd., Culver City, 90232), a neighborhood Italian restaurant that soft opened last Wednesday. Though originally focused on Italian tapas, co-owner Giovanni Zuanon changed the concept to more of a standard entree menu and brought on Barbershop chef Walter el Nagar (he also designed the restaurant’s kitchen) to consult on the opening lunch and dinner menus. They are serving up rustic Italian plates that hint at being seafood-centric, made with local produce. There are a few daily changing small plates.

The wine list is short, with wine mostly from Northern Italy. All are affordably priced and come in tumblers.

When it comes to design, the Venetian plastered walls were done entirely by Zuanon over the last two months and furniture is re-purposed antique from co-owner Donna Rabin. Open 11:45 am-2:30 pm for lunch and 5:30-11 pm for dinner Tuesday-Saturday.
