The Craftsman (119 Broadway, Santa Monica; 310.395.6037) has taken a spot on Broadway in Santa Monica and they are soft open (with official opening, April 15th). This beachy, loungey hangout emphasizes cocktails and game galore, in the former Yard space. With sea green walls, vintage sofas, old drafting tables, old surfing footage on a pull-down projection screen, it resembles more of a living room at a beach house than a bar. Underneath the drafting tables, you’ll find Taboo, Jenga and Connect Four.
So have a game night with cocktails like Rosetta Stoned, (whiskey, scotch, lemon and orgeat, which is an almond syrup with hints of orange and rose). Board games not your thing? Play old-school, arcade-style Donkey Kong tables.
All that gaming will definitely make you hungry. Well, there are seven kinds, created by a former Campanile chef, and one has a pork sausage patty and a fried egg.
