Casa Nostra, (825 W 9th St., Downtown; 213.362.3311) the second incarnation of a pearl on the PCH is now downtown. This one is bigger, sleeker, and has a full bar and cocktail menu.
Now, that it’s getting nicer out, sit on the front or back patio. Or, at night, stay warm in the cozy front room in the cognac-colored booths with a Crema de Campari, where two bitter aperitifs mellow out with limoncello crema and citrus juices.
The menu is full of classic, authentic Italian dishes and some new signatures. Homemade pappardelle with lamb ragu and pumpkin-stuffed tortellini with brown butter and sage are two favorites. As for dessert, go for the chocolate soufflé or banana and strawberry tart.
