The Hudson, one of my favorite spots in Los Angeles, has a new look. Three weeks ago, owners Beau Laughlin and Brett Cranston closed The Hudson’s doors for an interior/exterior renovation and to allow time for menu enhancements and collaborations. Tomorrow, they are offering 1/2 off all cocktails on the cocktail menu (normally $11 each) for the whole night to celebrate! Chef Conrad Woodul, Cocktail Sophisticato Mia Sarazen, Inspired Designer Jeanmarie Dumouchel (The Varnish) and Croft House Reclaimed Wood Expert Riley Rea came together to take on the task.
Inside the well-known train car-like hangout, the low interior ceiling was removed to expose the wood beams and A-frame roof added an additional 8 feet in height. The bar has been built up with new counter tops, bar stools and an aged mirror placed on the back bar. All of the wood and concrete floors have been refinished, the banquet seating has been reupholstered, stylish lighting and ceiling fans have been installed, new dining and communal tables, made by Croft House, line the restaurant, and vintage wall paper, built-in wood cabinetry and moldings placed throughout. The exterior of The Hudson has been repainted, sanded and stained, and outdoor landscaping has been upgraded. Additionally, a bike rack for locals has been added and a vintage neon cocktail sign has been prominently hung.
The Hudson will contiune to serve a familiar and consistent menu but will elevate the dining program by using local, organic products in every dish and offering a variety of new shared small plates and entrees. Led by SoCal’s native Chef Conrad Woodul, dishes include: Smoked Jalapeno Mac n Cheese; Crispy Chicken Sliders with jack, pickles, aioli, ranch; Brussel Sprouts with bacon, garlic, shallots, dijon; Short Rib Tacos with corn tortilla, pico de gallo; the Hudson Burger with aged cheddar, tomato, aioli; Prosciutto & Burrata with pickled beets, arugula, parmesan; Seared Albacore Crudo with cucumber, tangerines, chili oil; Kale Salad with shaved vegetables, red chili lime vinaigrette, toasted pepitas; Grilled Loch Duart Salmon with brussel sprouts, fingerling potatoes, dijon maple glaze; and Braised Lamb Shank with kale, mashed potato, olive rosemary jus.
Additional offerings include Stumptown coffee, tea and cold brew. Desserts from Duff’s Cakemix will also be available.
