Juicy Lucy

Forget everything you knew about a cheeseburger. It’s not just a burger with cheese on top anymore. Juicy Lucy, (FIGat7th, 735 Figueroa St, 1st Fl, Los Angeles, 90017; 213.683.1030) is a bold new Downtown lunch counter slinging burgers with melted cheese in the middle, officially opening today at 11 am.

Remember Savory? That Malibu spot that had a great burger? Well, Chef Paul Shoemaker from there has gone and opened this spot devoted to the thick grass-fed, beef, burgers with velvety, artisanal, cheesy centers. Brie, white American and Swiss cheese are steeped in wine to create a fondue-like consistency that is in the signature Juicy Lucy burger that is topped with crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, caramelized onions, pickles and aioli. Want two? The Double Juicy Lucy is to times the fun. For a lighter Juicy Lucy burger, Mary’s Farm free-range organic dark and white turkey meat are combined to create the Turkey Burger. You can also grab them without the cheese.

Also available, the daily “Chef Burger” which will feature market-inspired takes on classic fare. First up is the Wolfmother Burger: a tempting burger filled with a combination of nitrogen-infused brie and blue cheese creating a smooth, silky texture that oozes out of the burger with every bite, and is complimented by a balsamic onion compote, arugula, and house made aioli. They’re cooked in controlled-vapor ovens, then quickly seared. Grilling is so 2012!

You can’t eat your burger alone. Grab Sea Salt Fries or Sriracha Cheese Fries, that are kicked up a notch and topped with hot, gooey cheese and a dash of spicy Sriracha sauce.

Wash it all down with thick and creamy Vanilla, Chocolate, Mixed Berry and Salted Caramel Juicy Lucy Shakes. “Chef Shakes”, invented daily by Shoemaker and his team, will take advantage of just-picked ingredients, as will the three of-the-moment Aguas Frescas, all made on site from fresh fruit.
