SPiN

SPiN Galatic (550 S Flower St., Los Angeles, 90071) is a ping pong nightclub opened three years ago by actress Susan Sarandon in Manhattan and now, she and hotelier André Balazs are opening a branch at Balazs’ The Standard Downtown today.

SPiN takes over most of the second floor and designers like Ryan McGinness helped redo what were once conference rooms into a wrap around club. There are three bars, a dozen (ping pong) tables and ultra mod deco with red, black and white, ’60s molded plastic chairs and patent, tufted pleather. The space is flexible, and can be configured into private rooms, each with their own bar and staff.

Top Chef Micah Fields is in charge of the food, which is focused on her bar bites. Besides bartenders and servers, there are also ping pong girls, whose pick up stray ping pong balls. Non-members can get in, though they will have to wait in line, while members will be able to check in at the door and grab a table. And if you are a members who play late into the night, you have the option to purchase a room for the night for only $50 (pending availability).

For an annual fee of $500, anyone can be a member. For court rates and more info here.
