I was recently in Henry’s Hat and they informed me that it was their last day before closing. They didn’t know the name of the new spot, but it didn’t take long to find out. Spoonful’s (3414 Cahuenga Blvd., Studio City; 323.512.4800) a Southern-themed gastropub situated in Studio City. It feels like you’re drinking and eating on a Dixie farmhouse, minus the humidity (thank god) and it’s perfect for your next football Sunday.
The menu includes fried chicken dinner with collard greens and mac & cheese; and pulled-pork sliders with three types of BBQ sauce: Georgia/South Carolina/North Carolina. Wash it down with 10 draft craft beer, cougarific 40+ whiskies They ice ’em down with a single, circular cube from a Japanese-imported ice maker), or something off their cocktail list. The cocktails that run from the classic (Rye Sazerac) to the not so much (Mannish Boy).
