Cortez (1356 Allison Ave., Echo Park; 213.481.8015) is a new farm-to-table, small plates spot serving local, organic produce, sustainable seafood and pasture raised meats for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
Grab a seat at the counter or one of the family-style tables for an ever-changing menu that highlights the season’s freshest (slightly) Mediterranean flair. Order up dishes like rabbit escabeche on a bed of field greens; a gyro stuffed with Merguez sausage and sheep’s milk yogurt sauce wrapped in grilled flatbread and finish with a buttery almond Basque cake.
Photographer Todd Selby is promoting his new book Edible Selby with tapas and drinks event on October 28. $30 for drinks/bites or $65 for drinks/bites and a copy of the book. Resy here.
