Nick’s on 2nd (4901 E. 2nd St., Long Beach; 562.896.9000) is officially open with its comfy decor of polished wood and red leather booths. This spot is an American extension of the Nick’s mini chain (Nick’s, South of Nick’s). This is the first location with in the Los Angeles area, as all the others are in Orange County.
Nick’s on 2nd serves up classic American comfort food, bar snacks, unique cocktails and an extensive wine list. They also have an island bar, walls of glass and a spacious outdoor patio, where you can order up a grilled salmon citrus salad, jumbo lump crab cakes, San Fransisco Cioppino, a prime rib dip, fried deviled eggs, bacon-hickory burgers, fried deviled eggs and seafood enchiladas. Cocktails include their black & blue mojito (Malibu rum, blackberries, blueberries, mint & fresh lime), the salty pear (Grey Goose Pear, St. Germain & Pineapple juice), the white sand mojito (Bacardi Rum, fresh mint & soda), strawberry & basil gimlet (Hendrick’s Gin, St. Germain, fresh lime), Salty dawg (Belvedere, fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, salted rim) and their house made bloody mary with fried blue cheese olives.
