9 Olives, (8210 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood; 213.848.2100) is a new restaurant that’s inside a remodeled house where Charlie’ Chaplin once lived. Across from Chateau Marmont, you’ll be greeted by the sleek, charming Russian model/hostess into this Soviet-Constructivist space.
Start with a West Hollywood (mint vodka with elderflower and orange liqueur) at the glossy and grandiose bar top. Then move on to a menu by east coast chef Kevin O’Connell, Jr. They are serving upscale contemporary American cuisine. The salon menu has items like the brie and bacon pizza or the lamb burger.
If you’re here for dinner, grab a spot in the dining room for a classic wedge salad, shrimp & grits or a veal chop with white truffle risotto. Downstairs also presents an alfresco option, with a garden cabana area and a couple of table clothed two-tops.
