Bread Lounge (700 South Santa Fe Ave., Los Angeles, 90021) is the first retail shop to grab bread that has been used by chefs for years. Supplying nearly all of the restaurants nearby (like Industrial Street, Little Bear, Daily Dose and Le Pour Haus), they now offers a place to go straight to the source.
They offer baguettes, batards (oval-shaped loaves in flavors like olive, multi-grain, potato-rosemary, walnut, and whole-wheat) and pastries like spinach and feta stuffed triangles topped with sesame seeds, cheese twists and floral-shaped feta danishes. As for sweets, there are classic croissants, pain au chocolate and ricotta danishes.
They also have a small menu of panini and sandwiches (salads and a few other lunch items in the next week or two). To wash it all down, head to the full coffee bar, where through the large bakery window, you can watch as dozens of loaves go into the oven.
Enjoy is all on the back (dog-friendly) patio. Open Tuesday-Saturday, 7 am-6 pm and Sunday 9 am-6 pm.
