Opening Monday, BierBeisl (9669 Santa Monica Blvd., Beverly Hills; 310.271.7274) is opening up with claims of being LA’s first Austrian restaurant. It’s an upscale beer ‘n sausage spot with communal tables, unique Alpine beers (Stiegl Weisse, Staropramen Lager), and a sausage inspired menu.
They have a full sausage list with weisswurst (simmered in milk), brats, Swiss cheese-infused Käsekrainer, and the spicy/thin Debreziner. Other Austrian dishes include a duo of sweetbreads with creamy “potato cheese”, quail egg, and black truffle; Vanilla-infused goat cheese gratinee, Vienna schnitzel with pork, veal, or turkey; venison loin with brioche dumplings; and pork two ways paired with Champagne cabbage “fleckerl.”
In addition to their Austrian/Euro beers, they have a wide range of brandies infused with fermented fruits.
