Post & Beam (Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, 3767 Santa Rosalia Dr., Los Angeles, 90008; 323.299.5599), named to honor the mid-century architecture commonly found in Baldwin Hills, opens this month. They bring garden-fresh ingredients, house-made pizzas, and Cali-style comfort food all created with ingredients sourced from local, artisan purveyors, like South Central Farmers Cooperative and other urban farmers in the area. The chef and his team will be working with Dandelion Ranch to grow additional herbs and vegetables for the restaurant’s test garden.
Enjoy Post & Beam’s seasonal menu will highlight items from the wood-burning oven, including a selection of hand-stretched pizzas and seasonal sharable plates. All ranging from $4-26. Small plates include Turkey Sausage Meatballs with spicy wood-roasted tomato sauce; Wood Oven-Baked Mussels with grilled bread and paprika butter; and Grilled Octopus with green garbanzo, preserved lemon and cracked olive. California-style house-made pizzas change seasonally, and are topped with choices of classic Crushed Tomato, local mozzarella, snipped basil, and unfiltered olive oil. Large plates include Boneless Beef Short Ribs with fresh horseradish or Cornmeal-Crusted Idaho Trout with grilled lemon are served alongside a selection of two sides, like Long Cooked Greens with smoked ham hock, Charred Broccolini with homegrown chili and garlic, or Mashed Turnips with brown butter, black-eyed peas, and maple bacon.
The beer and wine list is also sourced predominately from California, Oregon, and Washington, with selections from breweries like Stone Brewing Company, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and Eagle Rock Brewery, and wineries like ZD, Adelsheim, and Talley Vineyards.
Serving dinner from 4-11 pm Monday-Saturday, and from 4-10 pm Sundays.
