The Churchill

The Churchill (8384 W 3rd St., Los Angeles, 90048; 323.650.8384) restaurant and bar will reopen on October 21st inside the Orlando Hotel. Expect seasonal American fare in a rustic/polished setting with wooden communal tables, iron table tops, polished concrete floors, a fireplace, black tufted leather, vintage mirrors & records, books and a photo booth. (I love any chance to get into a photobooth). Not to mention, there is a DJ spinning on the weekends.

The food focuses on sustainable and local produce for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and late night. Word is there will be a rooftop garden for herbs, lettuces, tomatoes, and root veggies). Expect Niman Ranch braised brisket hash, and pancetta breakfast pizza for breakfast and brunch, while dinner and late night include semolina spaghetti with clams, pork belly & chili broth; and whole roasted rock fish with house-cured olives, corno di toro peppers, and “Fat Uncle” almonds. For those of you on the go, The Churchill will offer a takeaway window where you can take away breakfast, pizza by the slice, sandwiches, house-made ice cream, and coffee from Intelligentsia.

As for cocktails, try the Churchill Tea (sake, orange vodka, honey, peach bitters, green tea), the Revolver ( fire roasted pepper tequila, cassis, Xocolatl mole) or the Clementine (chamomil-rye, honey syrup, Dolin bianco). All cocktails are made with fresh fruit or try some of their 20 craft beers on tap and a wine list specializing in California based wines.
