The Pie Hole (714 Traction Ave., Los Angeles, 90013; 213.537.0115) is a small cafe serving up sweet and savory pies across the street from Wurstkuche, downtown. The small space is simple and clean with hand-built cafe’s tables, steel chairs, concrete floors and wooden surfaces from mostly reclaimed wood and re-purposed materials.
For now, grab sweet pies by the slice and savory pies are served individually. (and don’t be shy…do it a la mode, with French vanilla bean ice cream). Each season will bring a new pie (sweet and savory varieties) daily. They also have Pie Tarts (pop tarts), whoopie pies, and a Spanish-style pastries with chocolate and caramel. To enjoy with your pies, there’s coffee and artisanal cane sugar sodas. Open 10 am-9 pm, Tuesday-Thursday, 10 am-11 pm Friday & Saturday, 10 am-6 pm Sunday.
