Monday, April 20:

New Menu at Pono Burger
Pono Burger’s Sassy Wahine burger is back, featuring a combo of Hawaiian/Asian flavors atop an organic, grass-fed burger. Cooked over a wood-fire grill, the beef is complimented by the spicy tang of pickled ginger and wasabi mayo paired with the salty crunch of Okinawan sweet potato chips and fresh avocado, pea shoots, and sesame ponzu dressing. In addition to the returning favorite, Chef Makani has created two new burgers–the ‘Alekina “Argentinean” Burger (topped with a citrus and oregano-infused chimichurri sauce) and the Korean-inspired Pilipili Burger (loaded with spicy bulgogi sauce, kimchee, cucumber strings, and a fried egg). Rounding out the new spring menu is an out-of-this-world Oatmeal Stout Milkshake, a malty beer flavor enhanced by organic vanilla ice cream, salted caramel, and toasted coconut. 829 Broadway, Santa Monica, CA  90401; 310.584.7005

Jon & Vinny’s Opens
Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo are serving up Italian-American fare like meatballs, pizzas, pastas, salads, and more. Their meatballs are made with short rib and pork shoulder, ricotta & goat cheese gnocci, crispy veal milanese; and pizzas like The LA Woman, made with fresh burrata and a thin layer of tomato sauce, or order up the crust dip (house made Ranch, creamy Italian, and marinara). Claud & Co. Bacchus’ Kitchen
Claud Beltran’s Bacchus’ Kitchen has opened in Pasadena with a 40 seat space, a great wine list and food like coconut milk shrimp, a gourmet burger, chicken pozole, cheese & charcuterie plates, and more. The restaurant is rustic and open, with exposed brick and big windows. Open Tuesday-Saturday, 5-10 pm; 1384 E. Revealed
30-plus collection of the work from Picasso, Chagall, Koons, Miró, and Magritte will be exhibited exclusively at Riviera 31 at Sofitel Los Angeles. The exhibit will be open to the public starting Tuesday with the cocktail reception on Thursday where Olivier Widmaier Picasso, Picasso’s grandson, will be in attendance. The exhibit has also inspired Collection d’Art,” (Art Collection) a special menu selection created by Executive Chef Victor Boroda paired alongside craft cocktails. He drew inspiration from the works of the most famous painters in the 20th Century, whose daily life are revealed throughout the exhibit. The first menu “Cubism” will be available through May 10th with select items: Beef Tartare, Clam Chowder, and a Trio of Oyster Shooters with a spicy tequila cocktail named Guernica Margarita. The following menu “Surrealism” will be available starting May 11th-June 7th with Chicken Liver Macaroons, Veloute of Garlic and Beet Napolean paired with a sparkling wine cocktail aptly named Son of Man. Le Grand Cercle des Vins de Bordeaux Wine Tasting
Formed in 2013 by Dr. Alain Raynaud, Le Grand Cercle des Vins de Bordeaux is an organization that brings together Le Cercle Rive Droite (the Right Bank) and Le Cercle Rive Gauche (the Left Bank) – more than 200 wineries – to showcase the finest Bordeaux wines. The practice of “en primeur” is a trusted method used by the wine industry, particularly among Bordeaux producers, in which critics and consumers are able to both taste and purchase the young vintage while the wine is still in the barrel. The guys behind The Misfit and Luggage Room have restored a classic Wilshire diner into a sleek, modern diner with black, leather tufted booths, deep greens with creams, and a wooden bar. ICDC Opens
This new ice cream meets donut shop (the name stands for Ice Cream, Doughnuts & Coffee), is by Mariah Swan and Amy Knoll Fraser and lives next to BLD. The bright, striped spot is serving up hand made creations like toasted coconut, grapefruit Campari-filled donut, butterscotch filled, salt & pepper caramel, Mayan milk chocolate donut, along with ice cream flavors like Guinness chip, dulce de leche, or creamy vanilla, with a shot of espresso. Brix at The Shore offers $10 Steak Night and $5-25 Wine Flights
Brix at The Shore is pulling out all corks on Wednesday nights for weekly Wine Tastings and adding a bit of sizzle with $10 Coulotte steaks. Every Wednesday evening Rick Reich, the owner and seaside sommelier, highlights a different winery pouring a flight of five wines.  Depending on the vintage, flights can cost as little as $5.
