Little Bear (1855 Industrial St; Downtown; 213.622.8100) opened up in the Downtown Arts District over the weekend. With an industrial loft kind of feel, this Belgian beer cafe is serving up sausage, grilled cheeses and craft beer.
The menu has items like a baked pastry filled with sous-vide pork belly, mustard sauce, pickled red onions & mesclun; a smoked wild boar sausage with roasted sweet potato, black kale, pearl onions & beer mustard sauce; and a cream, mushroom, chicken Waterzooi, “a classic stew of Flanders”. They’ve also got four grilled cheeses (bacon & Gruyere, brisket & Maasdam cheese, smoked salmon & capers, Stilton, walnuts & apples), a burger with mushrooms, truffle aioli, Stilton & crispy onion and a Cassoulet with white beans, pork belly, confit duck, spicy sausage, smoked slab bacon, and duck breast. Don’t miss the waffles for dessert! They have a chocolate one with white hot chocolate and a Lége waffle with strawberries and whip cream. As for beers, they have 16 taps pouring out all Belgian and Belgian-themed California crafts, which rotate regularly.
