Plant Food + Wine’s Arata Popup 
Plant-based chef Matthew Kenney and his team will be hosting a week long “Arata Pop-Up” at Plant Food + Wine, Venice. The Arata Popup will offer an  a la carte lunch and dinner menu as a supplement to Plant Food + Wine’s current menu. Arata, which is Japanese for “fresh and new,” offers plant-based ramen noodles, steamed buns, small plates, desserts inspired by Far East flavors, and an original cocktail and organic wine program. UNION Celebrates Three Years with a Chef Re”union” Dinner
Prominent Chef/Co-Owner Bruce Kalman andPartner Marie Petulla of UNION will host a chef reUNION celebrating three years of success from its loyal guests. MC Billy Harris’ “Hanging with Harris” Guest Chef Dinner Series
Culinary MC and fundraising auctioneer Billy Harris’ new dinner series Hanging with Harris is a lineup of eight intimate, multi-course dining events taking place throughout Los Angeles. Each dinner will begin with a cocktail reception hosted by a mixologist from the leading Scotch whisky distiller, William Grant & Sons, followed by a four-course seated dinner with wine pairings from each distinguished chef and a charity auction. A portion of ticket sales and all proceeds from the auction items will benefit four charities that are close to Harris’ heart: James Beard Foundation, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, No Kid Hungry, and PIGGY BANK. Woodley Proper Opens
In this first collaboration between barman Devon Espinosa and Scratch|Restaurants’ chef duo Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee, Woodley Proper builds on the idea of ‘dining at the bar,’ one of my favorite spots to dine at. Fare includes Olive-Stuffed Olives, crisped with honey-lime syrup and stuffed with kalamata-sweet potato mousse; Pickled Shrimp Guacamole, pairing fried shrimp ‘chips’ with guacamole and pickled shrimp salsa; and The Proper Tower with layers of house-cured charcuterie, custom Scratch|Bar x Stepladder Creamery cheeses, and chilled shellfish with inventive sauces like nước chấm mignonette. There’s also Shareable toasts made with house-baked sourdough topped with Grilled Bone-In Salmon with Greek yogurt and cucumber pickles; Ground Tomato with sweet and sour onions and burnt avocado; or Roasted Chicken Livers & Pearl Onions with truffle butter and potato hummus. Large plates range from a charred wedge salad to a dry-aged New York strip steak dressed with shawarma spice and served with a Russian tomato salad. Spago Beverly Hills Celebrates 33rd Annual Passover Seder Dinner
Barbara Lazaroff, co-owner of the renowned Spago Beverly Hills restaurant, is holding her annual Passover Seder for the 33rd consecutive year. The event will benefit MAZON, The Jewish Response to Hunger, which is a national nonprofit working to end hunger among all faiths and backgrounds in the United States and Israel. In addition to the spirited service, led by Rabbi Rachlis and Cantor Braier, the West Los Angeles Children’s Choir  joins the evening event to sing two specially prepared songs for the evening. Chef de Cuisine Tetsu Yahagi and Executive Pastry Chef Della Gossett will prepare a menu of holiday specials including chef Tetsu’s home-made gefilte fish, and chicken and vegetable soup with Judy Gethers’ matzo balls, and chef Della’s gorgeous dessert buffet ranging from matzo toffee, fromage blanc cheesecake, Passover puffs with caramel, and more. Michael’s On Naples‘ Great Wines of Napa
Master Sommelier Sur Lucero, who boasts a culinary pedigree that includes seven years at The French Laundry as well as time spent at The Little Nell, Cyrus, Meadowood and Daniel Boulud, will travel from his home in Napa to Michael’s On Naples for a special Great Wines of Napa dinner featuring the winemaking talents of Napa Winemaker Chris Carpenter paired with a carnivorous menu created by Chef Eric Samaniego. Featured wines for the five-course gathering include Prosecco and appetizers for the reception and presentation with Mt. Brave ’14 Cab Frank and La Jota Cabernet Franc served during the second course; La Jota ’13 Merlot and Mt. Brave Merlot poured for the third course; and Cardinale ’13 uncorked for the fourth course. The fifth course, featuring an array of cheese and a desert cocktail, will include more impromptu conversation with Lucero. Lucero is currently the National Director for Wine Education at Jackson Family Wines. Tam O’Shanter’s Wine Pairing Dinner with Mira Winery
The evening’s lineup will feature four of its award-winning wines (2015 Mira Chardonnay, Napa Valley; 2012 Mira Cabernet Franc, Napa Valley; 2013 Mira Hyde Vineyard Pinot Noir, Napa Valley; and 2013 Mira Hyde Vineyard Syrah, Napa Valley), all of which will be paired with four courses created by the Tam’s Executive Chef, Juan Escamilla. NHMLA Partners with Angel City Brewery for “Citizen Science + Suds”
The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLA) investigated the effects of community participation in civic projects in a new discussion series: Citizen Science + Suds. They partnered with Angel City Brewery in DTLA and created L.A.’s first-ever crowd-sourced beer. The public casted their votes for both the beer’s ingredients and name and you can now taste the beer they helped create at the series finale on April 13.
