Hanjip Celebrates First Anniversary with All-You-Can-Eat Competition
Hanjip, the Culver City, CA-based Korean barbecue restaurant from Bombet Hospitality Group and Chef Chris Oh, celebrates the season of giving (and eating) with a charitable weeklong all-you-can-eat competition. For every diner that participates, the restaurant will donate $5 to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign, a non-profit initiative aimed at ending childhood hunger through education, connecting kids in need with nutritious food, and helping families prepare healthy, affordable meals at home. The competition challenges you to devour as much as you can from the $29.99 AYCE menu. With 20 total meat selections, this tier offers grilled cuts ranging from marinated short rib and classic Bulgogi to spicy pork belly, shrimp, and more. Three tables win nightly: one winner among all parties of two, one winner among all parties of four, and one winner among all parties of six. Winners are determined by the greatest number of courses consumed per table within a two hour timeframe. Winning tables in their respective categories receive a complimentary dinner at their next visit. Three grand prize category champions are crowned at the close of the weekly contest, determined by the parties that consume the greatest number of courses overall. These twelve grand prize champions get a VIP card that allows winners to eat for free with a guest all year long. $29.99; Monday-Sunday, December 4th, 5:30 pm-close; 3829 Main St, Culver City, CA 90232; 424.361.5225

LA Artist, Robert Vargas, Paints Tony Alva Live at The Kinney Hotel
LA-based contemporary artist Robert Vargas will paint the first of several murals on the exterior of the recently opened hotel, The Kinney. The first mural, on the north facing exterior of the building, will feature legendary skateboarder Tony Alva, one of the original Z-boys and one of the most influential skateboarders of all-time. Alva will be on hand Wednesday, during the creation of this mural to model for Vargas’ celebrated freehand approach. To celebrate, The Kinney will host an open house to observe Vargas in action as he paints. In addition, hosted food trucks will be parked out front including Dogtown Dogs and Pink Taco. DJ Ella will be spinning upstairs on The Quad – the hotel’s open-air courtyard, and guest room tours will be available. At 5:30 pm, following the painting, you will be able to chat with Vargas and Alva. Known for his massive murals and live-painting portraits, there is no better choice than Vargas to capture the essence of Venice art, music, and skate culture. Vargas will also bring to life an image of The Doors founding member, guitarist Robbie Krieger, to be debuted at The Kinney in early 2017.
