Farbod Barsum

Founded in 2010, Farbod Barsum represents the ultimate in couture exotic handbags and accessories. With their commitment to quality, luxury, and refinement, they have an attention to detail and understand the complexity of working with exotic skins.

The designer, Farbod Barsum, born into a family of two architect parents, was surrounded with design at an early age. He followed his passion for arts as he graduated from Berkeley studying art history and he went on to FIDM, San Francisco to study fashion design only to be followed by a Masters degree in architecture.

Combining his experience by working for some of the most prestigious fashion houses as well as architectural design work, Farbod was ready to present his visions of iconic style to the world. He launched his fashion house in 2010 after an apprenticeship in The House of Bijan on Rodeo Drive where he worked side by side with the late designer.

Drawing inspiration from his love of architecture and nature, Farbod threads his collection with a balance between structural and organic composition. Farbod hand selects the materials that are going to be used on each product. Handmade by master artisans, the elements on each piece are custom hand cast and polished one piece at a time. Based in Beverly Hills, their materials are sustainably harvested and dyed in chrome free tanneries making their approach to design both ethical and ecologically sound. Their skins are registered with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department and meet strict compliance with the international requirements of CITES.

Farbod Barsum has pioneered many innovations in the exotics industry. The brand invented a signature combination of the use of two or more different exotics on one bag. They also have extensive use of signature color blocking of exotics. Barsum bags were the first to incorporate Swarovski Crystals and feathers on exotics and they were also the first to source and implement materials in a couture level that you can see in the ostrich purse and Pirarucu fish skin purse. The wearable art concept of Barsum bags transforms exceptionally rare materials and adapts them for use in every day life.
