LA Street Food Fest
LA‘s largest and most affordable tasting event is back for it’s seventh consecutive year. The event kicks off on Friday with a Dinner in the Rose Garden ($150) celebrating the Food Fest’s past and present. The main event is Saturday & Sunday. Enjoy food, drink and more from 100+ food, beverage, beer, wine and craft cocktail vendors each day. Saturday and Sunday will also feature intimate, chef-driven “long table” events in the Food Fest Rose Garden Pop-Up Restaurant for a “hangry brunch”, lunch and dinner. $15+; Saturday & Sunday; 700 Exposition Park Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90037

Wildwood Ovens‘ Summer Cooking Series
Wildwood Ovens makes wood fired ovens and is offering a Summer Cooking Series in Eagle Rock, which is the only place in SoCal teaching wood fire cooking in real wood fire ovens. This weekend, join in a Cooking with Wood Workshop, where you will learn to use rustic culinary techniques such as salt crust and rescoldo stone pot baking to cook meats and veggies in the chapa, forno, parrilla, assador, and infiernillo. Night Market
New York City’s Contra/Wildair team is coming to Los Angeles for a collaboration dinner with Kris Yenbamroong of Night + Market. Chefs Jeremiah Stone and Fabian Von Hauske plan to work an a la carte menu of unique dishes for the evening, with Yenbamroong adding in his own selection of new takes on dishes like pad kee mao and raw lamb larb. The night will carry a largely barbecue-focused theme, with the trio out back grilling lamb. J.D. Platonic from Lou Wine will be pouring natural wines, and you can order together a piecemeal feast with a few friends. Show up or make reservations here. Bastille Day at Pitchoun! Bakery
Located in the heart of DTLA, this family-owned French café serves freshly-baked breads, pastries, salads, soups and sandwiches, all of which are prepared from scratch each morning. Up until July 15, Pitchoun! will be offering several specials in spirit of the French national holiday. Summer Beer Garden & Whole Pig Roast at Tender Greens
Head to their Hollywood location for a Summer Beer Garden & Whole Pig Roast on the outdoor patio. Executive Chefs Oliver Plust and Jason Prendergast are getting together to slow roast a Berkshire Whole Pig in a La Caja China. Menu highlights from the family-style spread includes House Made Jerky, Susie Farms Squash Ratatouille and Stone Fruit Cobbler. The Halal Guys Opens
See for yourself why New Yorkers go crazy for this food cart. The Halal Guys opens its third West Coast outpost in Koreatown (also has locations in Orange County and Long Beach). Sound in Focus
KCRW’s annual concert series Sound in Focus is back and this year, The Stand will be serving up their signature cuisine for you to enjoy. Renegade Craft Fair
With maker-designed goods, DIY workshops, artisanal food & drink, and music by KXLU, this is the largest independent craft fair in the world. The Melrose Business Improvement District (BID)’s Free Shopping Shuttle
The Melrose BID has partnered with electric car service, ParkPlace Cali, to offer a free shopping shuttle every Saturday and Sunday in July for you to get from one end of the street to the other. The BID stretches 22 blocks along Melrose Ave from Fairfax to Highland and in the hot weather it’s a long walk if you’re interested in visiting shops along the entire route. The seven-seat shuttle—which looks like an open-air Cadillac—will have many marked stops, listed below. The Melrose Shopping Shuttle is being sponsored by the BID along with several Melrose businesses including Cosmo & Nathalia, The Groundlings, Love Baked Wings and Manic Panic. If it proves to be as popular with shoppers as expected, the BID may continue running it all summer into the Fall.
