NHM First Fridays Gets Fresh Air
The final live music and discussion event of the 2016 season is this weekend! HEALTH, YACHT, and KAUF will perform on outdoor stage in the Nature Gardens with DJs Aaron Byrd, Shiva, and Valida. Listen to a discussion dissecting zombie science in film at 6:30 pm because movies rely on science to tell their stories, and when science is turned into fiction, NHM is called on to lend an expert hand. Go backstage and shine a light on the bizarre props and rare specimens that inspire Hollywood blockbusters. Monkey Town LA
Enjoy performances from artists, musicians and dancers in a unique dining experience. The Monkey Town dinner, cinema and performance series arrives in DTLA and is for just 40 guests sitting inside a giant, 27-foot cube, watching a video program from artists like Takeshi Murata, Shana Moulton and Sarah Rara, with a live performance that changes weekly. Chef Montgomery Knott’s menu will be served in four or five courses throughout the two-hour program and paired with a selection of wines. Cut by Wolfgang Puck Celebrates 10 Years with a Guest Chef Dinner that Gives Back
This June, Chef Wolfgang Puck celebrates 10 years of his first steak restaurant, CUT by Wolfgang Puck, located in the Beverly Wilshire, a Four Seasons Hotel. Wolfgang, executive chef/partner Lee Hefter and head chef Ari Rosenson wanted to celebrate this milestone by not only giving back to the community in which they got their start, but also commemorate members of the hospitality industry who continue to make an impact on the local and national culinary scene. The team will welcome a talented group of chefs into the CUT kitchen for a collaborative, one-night-only five course dinner. In addition to Wolfgang and chef Rosenson, the lineup of chefs cooking that evening include: The LocoL Watts team with Daniel Patterson (partner in LocoL, Alta Ca, Aster, Coi, PB, Haven), Evan Funke (of the soon-to-debut Felix), David LeFevre (M.B. Los Angeles’ Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry
Los Angeles’ Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry returns to Media Park in Culver City. The annual tasting event will feature the city’s top chefs, sommeliers and mixologists united for a cause: to benefit No Kid Hungry’s work to end childhood hunger in America. Led by Chef Chair Bruce Kalman (Union, Knead & Co.), celebrated culinary tastemakers will provide scrumptious bite-size fare, craft cocktails, and desserts. EAT (RED) SAVE LIVES
ERSL is the culinary offshoot of Bono’s (RED), a non-profit organization created 10 years ago to engage businesses and people in the fight against AIDS. Recognizing the power of the culinary industry, organizers created the month-long EAT (RED) SAVE LIVES campaign in 2013 as a way to unite the culinary community, provide yet another fun way for consumers to give back and ultimately raise money for The Global Fund. The kick-off dinner takes place in New York and immediately following, The (RED) Supper Series hits Los Angeles. Join in (RED)-themed events and specials at restaurants, bars, and food trucks. Friday: Abbot Kinney’s First Friday Food Truck Rally. Feast from Chanchos Tacos, CJ’s Wing Truck, Peaches Truck, Recess Ice Cream, The Funky Chef Café, The Pudding Truck, VChos Truck, and Zema Food Truck. Harold Robinson Foundation Hosts 6th Annual “Pedal on the Pier” Fundraiser
Head to the historic Santa Monica Pier for this energetic outdoor cycling event that features more than 100 teams pledging to raise a minimum of $2,500 each while pedaling on stationary bikes. The teams are raising money for Los Angeles’ inner-city kids and families by providing them with the social, physical, intellectual, and emotional impact of a year-round, life-changing camp program. Pedal on the Pier’s 5-hour/100-mile spin-a-thon features teams riding on SC3 indoor cycling bikes provided by Stages Cycling, live musical performances, DJs, celebrity guests, athletes, food and drinks from local restaurants, influential brands and more. The Harold Robinson Foundation is a nonprofit that provides unity and community through the organization’s flagship program, Camp Ubuntu. The Harold Robinson Foundation provides the funding to send Los Angeles’s underserved children to camp, in a safe and nurturing environment, far away from the stress that most of them face on a daily basis. The London West Hollywood Debuts Boxwood

Grande Marque Champagne Event

The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Los Angeles Rooftop Yoga
For the first time ever, The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Los Angeles hosts the city’s highest yoga class taking place on the hotel’s helipad. Kayak the LA River
In 2011 the Los Angeles Conservation Corps (the Corps) formed the Paddle the LA River pilot program and they are once again offering guided trips for the 2016 summer season. The trips will take place down a 1.5-mile natural bottom stretch of the Los Angeles River in the San Fernando Valley within the Sepulveda Basin. Each tour is led by guides from the LA Conservation Corps and will include a boating clinic. This weekend, SoulCycle Culver City is teaming up with Picnic LA for a special “Soul and Lunch” following their 11:15 a.m. class. Picnic LA is a healthy fast-casual concept known for its rotating dynamic, seasonal menu, inspired by the local produce available within California. KCRW Summer Nights in the One Colorado Courtyard
KCRW presents the 7th season of its signature event series, Summer Nights, which brings dozens of free, all-ages, outdoor shows to communities throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area and beyond. The series launches with a live performance by New York duo SOFI TUKKER and a DJ set from KCRW’s Valida in the courtyard. SOFI TUKKER’s weirdly wonderful pop single “Drinkee” has been a favorite on KCRW for many months, and the duo recently finished their debut EP titled, Soft Animals.
