Moving into the Manhattan House (well, just for Brunch)

If you follow me, you know I am a huge fan of brunch (or brunching as I like to call it). Running my own design company, running hoopLA, and planning a wedding keeps me pretty busy during the week, so when the weekend roles around, brunch it is! Manhattan House (1019 Manhattan Beach Blvd, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266), a garden-to-table restaurant with an industrial feel, that is accented by bright California photographs, paintings, and chalkboards through out the restaurant. Along with impeccable service and a relaxed vibe, this spot has launched their delicious brunch menu and I highly recommend checking it out. With home grown veggies, cage-free eggs, meats cured in-house, and even olive oil made in-house, they have a menu of fresh and innovative takes on breakfast classics from former BLD Chef, and Neal Fraser protégée, Executive Chef, Diana Stavaridis.

From 10 am – 2 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, feast on dishes including Shakshuka (my fave), an Israeli-Tunisian inspired dish with eggs, poached in a sauce of saffron braised tomatoes, freshly-picked bell peppers and chili herb yogurt; Short Rib Pastrami Hash made with sunny side up cage-free eggs, Yukon potatoes, and caramelized onions; and Tyler’s personal favorite, the House ABC Egg Sandwich with avocado, house smoked bacon, cheddar, house sauce, all on their home made sourdough. We started off our meal with the MH bacon bites, which are like hush puppies stuffed with Cajun cheddar and smoked bacon. They were a great way to start off the meal and paired well with their bloody Mary. Sweet dishes include the Cornflake Crusted French Toast and the Chia Porridge (we had for dessert) made with buckwheat, cashew nut milk, coconut date cream, and seasonal fruit.

As for cocktails, this place is my new favorite spot because they have a whole list of different Manhattans and the most perfectly made Oak Old Fashion. It’s made with Buffalo trace bourbon, angostura bitters, local orange, and a Luxardo cherry. Plus, you can enjoy a free Bloody Mary, mimosa, or Bahia del Sur with any brunch entrée. Other cocktails include The Botanist made with Botanist gin, lemon, St Germain, and egg white foam; Cucumber Collins made with Hanson organic cucumber vodka, fresh cucumber, lemon, and mint; The Thriller made with El Charro Reposado tequila, kumquat, serrano chili, and lime; The Hollywood Bowl made with Remy V, Cointreau, blackberries, strawberries, and sparkling wine; Jalisco made with El Charro Reposado tequila, lime, and Q ginger beer; Ketel Motherland made with Ketel One vodka, lime, and Q ginger beer; Louisville made with Bourbon, lime, and Q ginger beer; and The Oxnard made with Belvedere Wild Berry, Lillet, and strawberry.

Whether you are looking for a hearty dish, something sweet, or simply something delicious to sip on, Manhattan House has it all. Forget about your busy day-to-day and relax at the Manhattan House. (Plus, they are rolling out bottomless mimosas soon)!
