And the Oscar goes to….

hoopLA never ceases to amaze me with the things I get to experience in California. This past Monday was one of those times when I met Marc Friedland and the team at Marc Friedland Couture Communications for a preview of this year’s Oscar® envelope. 2016 is the 6th year that Marc Friedland is designing the envelopes and announcement cards with the names of Oscar winners for the 88th Academy Awards®.
Friedland and his team began creating the first-ever specially designed envelope and winners cards for the Oscars in 2011. Since then, Marc Friedland Couture Communications has jumped on other exciting events like the Conservation International’s 2016 Gala and The Electronic Music Awards and Foundation Show.

As a graphic designer myself, it was such a pleasure to meet and talk to Marc Friedland, another person who is passionate about print materials and giving people their first impression on their events. Whether it’s a wedding, a milestone birthday, to branding your company, Friedland creates eye catching designs with a focus on the smallest detail.

When it comes to this year’s iconic Oscar envelopes includes: six production people in white shirts and white gloves, folding & assembling the envelopes by hand, cutting the ribbon, gold leaf stamping, embossing, gluing all the nominees to the cards, gluing the name of the categories on the envelope, and gluing the PwC seal and ribbon to the envelope.
