If You’re Taller Than This Austrian Chef, You Eat for Free
Bierbeisl Imbiss’s chef/owner Bernhard Mairinger is really tall…like 6 foot 7 inches tall. If you are taller than Mairinger, then you will get a free lunch or dinner at the DTLA location inside the Spring Arcade Plaza. (It’s the same deal he used to offer at his Beverly Hills restaurant). The rest of us can enjoy their daily happy hour from 3-5 pm and after 10 pm. Los Balcones‘ New Cocktails
Sip on several new cocktails this week which includes a mescal drink with activated charcoal! The new cocktails were created collaboratively by Los Balcones’ Bar Manager Josh Suchan and Joel Black of Black Lab Ventures. Chavela Happy Hour
The plant-based Latin America-inspired restaurant from Jorge, Walter and Eduardo Rodriguez and Executive Chef Rachel Carr, are launching happy hour. Enjoy three signature cocktails and traditional Peruvian-style sangrias called Chavela from Bar Manager Josh Suchan, along with signature vegan fare. Options include: Tipsy Jalapeño made with Huamani pisco or El Jimador tequila, jalapeno, lime, rosemary; the Hotel Nacional made with Blackwell Jamaican rum, pineapple juice, fresh lime, apricot liqueur; Chilcano made with Huamani pisco, fresh lime, homemade ginger beer, bitters; Chavela Tradicional made with torrontes, red wine, Huamani pisco, chicha morada; Chavela Rosa made with hibiscus liqueur, aperol, silver rum, lemon, rosé; and Chavela Fresco made with peach, curacao, lemon, mint, vanilla tea, sauvignon blanc. Throughout September, grab $11 Cocktail Flight by Master Mixologist/Advanced Sommelier Adam Seger. Tanzy Restaurant, a garden-fresh Italian dining concept helmed by VP of Culinary and three-time James Beard Award winner Chef Sherry Yard, celebrates garden-to-glass cocktails with a flight of four 5oz. cocktails for less than the price of one! Rooftop Film Club
Film viewing takes to the sky directly above Hollywood this summer. The United Kingdom’s leading outdoor cinema company, the Rooftop Film Club has turned the iconic roof of The Montalbãn into a unique theatre with pin-striped Brighton Beach Deck Chairs flown in from the United Kingdom. Scorpion Bowl
Tiki No invites you to embrace the island spirit with the launch of a weekly Wednesday night Pog competition series, known as the “Scorpion Bowl.” Held in the bar’s banquettes, teams of two or more will compete, at random, through a knockout style tournament of the game that originally hails from Hawaii. Each week, the final squad left standing will be awarded $100, a photo on the winners’ wall, and free admission to the next week’s tournament. The second place team will be given a signature Scorpion Bowl cocktail, large enough for the team to share. Additionally, Tiki No encourages patrons to come up with silly fun team names that reference the tiki life.
