Hyatt Palm Springs

As Angelenos, we all head to Palm Springs for some much needed relaxation (and a break from the traffic). Next time you get ready to hit the desert, make sure you stay at the Hyatt Palm Springs (285 N Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92262). Not only does the hotel sit in the middle of all the action, but with every room being a suite, great restaurants on site, entertaining night life, and a large pool area, you won’t want to leave the hotel.

The Hyatt Palm Springs houses 197 newly renovated suites that includes, a living room, two TVs, a marble bathroom, plush beds, refrigerator, free wifi, and balcony. It’s refreshing to stay in a room that really feels like a home away from home. There is plenty of room to relax and not feel like you’re on top of each other. Plus, prices won’t set you back. For only $129 – $425, you (and your dog, for an additional $50 per stay) can really get away.

With SHARE Small-Plate Bistro, Hoodoo Cocktail Garden, and the outdoor pool & bar, you have everything you need for an great weekend. We started out with a night at Hoodoo, where you can sit among fire pits and join in outdoor entertainment that has you smiling all night long. The singer was fun, talented, and took our requests (Sweet Caroline). While you take in the tunes and the people watching, in this prime, outdoor spot, order up cocktails like the Moscow Mule slushy, the Mary Pickford made with silver rum, pineapple juice, grenadine and maraschino liqueur; and the Palm Springs Hibiscus Cooler, mixed with the finest silver tequila, hibiscus liqueur, cucumber soda and cucumber garnish. Dishes have a new twist with HooDoo Herb Marinated Scallops (my fav); Desert Style Lobster Roll Sliders; Grilled Spiced Vegetable Salad; Mojave Tequila Duck Confit Quesadillas, which includes roasted salsa, citrus crème, and a Manchego cheese blend; the Salmon Seacuterie, featuring Meyers Rum salmon jerky, Pineapple Bran smoked salmon, nova lox, grilled flat bread and toasted caper cream cheese; and Stone Ale-Battered Fish Nuggets. Make sure you finish on a sweet note and order up their BuzzBars, which are alcohol-infused all-natural gourmet ice cream and sorbet bars for adults! Flavors include The Drunken Cookie (Cookies ‘n Cream Ice Cream + Bourbon), Citrus Berry Drop (Raspberry Lemon Drop Sorbet + Lemon Vodka), Larry King, Heart Bar (Vegan friendly; Berry Sorbet and Merlot wine), Vanilla Daze (Vanilla ice cream and cognac) and The Buzz Café (Coffee ice cream and Irish cream).

The next night we headed to SHARE, and I was honestly shocked at the meal we had. It was absolutely amazing and some of the best seafood I have had in a while. I would honestly call SHARE a fine dining restaurant with a laid back vibe. The restaurant seats more than 45 in the dining room or you can sit in the heated outdoor patio (When it’s not 100 degrees). We ordered up the Vegan Oven Roasted Vegetable Skillet as an appetizer, and entrees including the Pistachio Crusted Pacific Salmon, which features toasted pistachios, warm spinach salad, red onion jam and herb aioli and the Griddled Day Boat Scallops with Pan Charred Swiss Chard and California Orange Nag. Both were perfectly cooked with savory sauces, and large portions (the scallops were huge). Other menu items include the Summer Vegetable Risotto, and lunch offerings like Gulf Prawn and Noodle Salad, which includes poached gulf prawns, mung bean sprouts, thin peppers, mint, basil, cilantro, scallions, toasted peanuts and zesty Asian dressing. Breakfast items include Brioche French Toast, the West Coast Crab Omelet, along with a weekend brunch buffet with some delicious omelettes.

My most favorite part of the weekend, was laying out by the pool. I am always on the go, so an afternoon to lay around (in the heat), sip on bloody Marys, and have my main responsibility be dipping in the pool, I was a happy girl. They played a great song list, kept the drinks coming, and had ample seats. The pool atmosphere is perfect for those looking to relax and not be the life of the party (which is why I go to Palm Springs).

The Hyatt Palm Springs has it all. From the huge dog friendly rooms, to the excellent food, to the hilarious entertainment, the Hyatt Palm Springs will be your go to spot in the desert for a weekend of relaxation.
