National S’Mores Day
This National S’Mores Day dig into the sweet fluffy favorite at mid-town restaurant, Rascal. Pastry Chef Danielle Keene is whipping up the FJ’s S’More In A Jar dessert with layers of house-made graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows ($9). This indulgence of fluff and melted chocolate is named after Rascal regular and local film producer, FJ DeSanto, who, while dining at the bar, suggested putting S’mores in a jar. Maple Block Meat Co. Opens
This rustic barbecue spot has exposed, wooden beams, brick,white tiles, and bright, red stools. Oh, and an in-house butcher cooking up peachwood-smoked spare ribs, pork shoulder, bone-in prime rib, pork shank and brisket. Monthly Guest Bartender at Frankie’s Private Bar
E.P. & L.P.—WeHo’s newest Asian restaurant—is launching a new monthly guest bartender series at Frankie’s Private Bar (that lives within the L.P. Rooftop space). Curated by EP & LP’s in-house Beverage Director Alex Straus, the line-up of top mixologists from across the world. The event will showcase popular cocktail trends in different parts of the world and the first event to kick off the will feature guest bartenders Paul McGee and Erin Hayes from Lost Lake Chicago, a tropical cocktail bar in Chi-town. Tuesday, August 11:

Dunkin’ Donuts Opens in Culver City
They are opening their first DD Green Achievement restaurant in Culver City. The new energy- and water-efficient restaurant is located at  and will open at 5 am, guests Dunkin’ Donuts’ baked goods, sandwiches and fresh-brewed coffee. The first person in line will be rewarded with free coffee for one year and the first 100 guests to be served will receive a gift bag with special items. In addition, local city dignitaries will be on-site to assist in the ceremonial grand opening ribbon cutting. During the ceremony, Dunkin’ Donuts will also present a $1,000 donation to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to further the organization’s efforts in the local community. Andaz West Hollywood Celebrates Artist Mario Ybarra Jr.
The new installation titled, “Youth” depicts contemporary, street art style images of the many Mexican-American faces of Los Angeles by Artist Mario Ybarra Jr. The installation was curated by LA><ART and is part of Andaz West Hollywood’s rotating art program titled, “Art Seen @ Andaz,” which celebrates local artists. In what he calls “contemporary art that is filtered through a Mexican-American experience in Los Angeles,” Ybarra’s work is distinctive and encourages you to take a closer look at identity, community, and urban culture. On display for a limited time on Andaz West Hollywood’s exterior garage wall, “Youth” is a part of the hotel’s rotating art program, “Art Seen @ Andaz,” which features contemporary installations, paintings, and photographs by local artists. To celebrate the new installation, Andaz West Hollywood will be hosting an unveiling reception. Hors d’ouevres and passed wine will be available. Lakeside Lounge’s Camp For Adults
For two Wednesdays in August, Patina Restaurant Group will provide hearty Mexican street food and refreshing adult snow cones for Lakeside Lounge in Descanso Gardens. Lakeside Lounge, a “camp for adults”, is located at Oak Woodland, a recently opened area of the gardens adjacent to the lake, and will feature elements of camp like crafting friendship bracelets and nature hikes. You’re invited to watch the sun set, indulge in delicious food by Patina, and enjoy craft beers from Golden Road Brewing while listening to vinyls spun by acclaimed DJ The Flashdance. The menu includes: four street tacos, Mulitas, (both with a choice of Carne Asada, Grilled Chicken or Portobello Mushroom, and Street Corn with aioli, cotija cheese, chile, lemon juice. Pop-Up Marketplace At L.A. Live
This is a new twist on a craft fair. It’s a huge nighttime event in the middle of L.A. Live. The shopping evening will feature more than 60 Los Angeles vendors selling locally made, handcrafted items.
