Pi Day at King Harbor Brewery
They will be celebrating Pi(e) Day with sweet and savory pies from Studio Citys’ popular, Pi Bake Shop. Pi Bake Shop will be selling pies at the brewery. There will also be a Pie Eating Contest, where six competitors will have about a minute and a half to try and get their pies devoured with their hands tied behind their backs. One lucky winner will receive a ticket to King Harbor Brewery’s 1st Year Anniversary Party on April 11th along with a growler and will take home a pie! Spectators can grab a slice of heaven themselves; as Pi Bake Shop will be selling sweet and savory pies until 4 pm. Magnolia House’s Brunch
John Bicos and brother Chris Bicos, the duo of Bicos Hospitality (Gus’s BBQ, The Original Tops) have transformed the this craftsman structure into a luxe, modern day bungalow, evoking the feeling of “home,” with dishes like Greek Yogurt drizzled with honey, caramelized grapes and toasted almonds; Belgian Waffles dusted with powdered sugar, fresh berries and maple syrup; Korean Fried Chicken; Bacon Omelet stuffed with Applewood smoked bacon, wild mushrooms, bourbon onions and gruyere; Ancho Omelet with ancho tomato salsa, avocado, micro cilantro and smoked Gouda; and Kale and Quinoa Salad with red grapes, pomegranate seeds, pickled radish, red bell pepper, pecorino cheese and Dijon vinaigrette. Ox & Son Opens
Santa Monica welcomes a restaurant with Executive Chef and Partner Brad Miller leading the kitchen and a name that pays homage to Miller’s father, Gary “Ox” Miller, a Chicago-based butcher who taught Miller the ropes in the butcher shop from age 15. The modern American restaurant has dark leather, upholstered chairs, wood-bound hostess stand, with each item of furniture custom designed by Bradford Lawson and Mark Mittleman to give the space a modern-yet-rustic ambience. The menu features appetizers of tapas-style plates like Mussel & Tomato Chorizo Poutine with 8hr Tomato Sauce, Yukon Fries, Cotija Cheese and Dillweed; Benton’s Ham and Corn Griddle Cake with Maple Butter and Pickled Onion; and Venison Sausage & Farm Egg with Fig Mustard, Endive and Shaved Asparagus, as well as a daily assortment of oysters, freshly shucked behind a glass-enclosed cold bar. Entrees include Chicken Fried Duck Confit with Shaved Pickled Vegetables, House Kimchi Slaw, Red Chili, and Local Honey Sauce; and Sticky Pig Cheeks with Black Vinegar Glaze, Roasted Turnip, Coconut Black Rice and Charred Leek. LA Marathon
The LA Marathon is run from the stadium (Dodger Stadium) to the sea (Santa Monica Pier) and is considered one of the most scenic in the world. The race has been named Best Big City Race by Runner’s World and Best Marathon in the West by Competitor Magazine.
