The Venice Whaler Brunch

As Angelenos, we are pretty lucky when it comes to the weather and this past weekend I took full advantage. It was November, it was 80 degrees, and I was sitting at The Venice Whaler (10 W. Washington Blvd., Venice, CA  90292; 310.821.8737) looking over the ocean with good food and a ginger citrus Bellini in hand. Life is good.

The Venice Whaler is one of the few spots where you can catch all the games (I could see 5 tvs from my seat) with a view of the Pacific and now, they even have brunch. We started off with some Bellinis and Mimosas and had to order their signature Crab Claw Bloody Mary, which comes with the actual claw. They have really had some fun with their cocktail menu by including little “props” and experimented with their presentations.

As for food, we tried the refreshing fish tacos, an omelette, and the mouth watering short rib hash. I loved how the meat was placed on top of their roasted potatoes and not mixed all together. Sometimes a hash can really just end up being potato goo. Not the case here. We also had one of the best steak and eggs ever. The steak is smothered with an herb butter that really makes it stand out and it was cooked to perfection.

As for a Los Angeles brunch, you can’t beat The Venice Whaler with the cocktail, food, and of course, the beautiful view.
