LA Design festival 2014
Get ready for 60 events across Los Angeles during The Los Angeles Design Festival. this event celebrate’s LA’s design talent, produce and economy. From large-scale design conferences to intimate gatherings in showrooms and studio, this year’s LA Design Festival is ready to impress. In addition to self-guided “Design Hooky” tours of select LA neighborhoods, the festival includes open houses and Dwell on Design home tours, plus a dim-sum bike ride, Pecha Kucha x Ping Pong, and an “urban hike” in DTLA, culminating in a Closing Night Party in Chinatown on June 29th.  

“Crazy Pyes” Food Truck Tour
Fans of the Netflix hit, Orange is the New Black (Me) can join in noshing on the food from the “Crazy Pyes” food truck. Inspired by character Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren (played by Uzo Aduba) and her Season 1 catchphrase, “I Threw My Pie for You”, the truck will be giving out free fruit-flavored hand pies. As an ode to another popular “Crazy Eyes” line from the show, the truck will also give away free “Chocolate and Vanilla Swirl” soft serve ice cream cones. Malibu Country Mart Outdoor Movies

Angel City Brewery‘s Summer Solstice mini music festival
There are 14 hours and 26 minutes of daylight on June 22nd, so join in a celebration for the re-launch of Loquat Wheat. The unfiltered wheat beer is brewed with fresh loquats from Malibu. The beer is a light bodied, orange-hued wheat beer, with an ABV of 5.8% and IBU of 10. It will be available on draft at the Public House and at bars and restaurants across LA for a limited time. The event will include music from Leeann Skoda (1 pm), Andy Keathley (2 pm), Kat McDowell (3 pm), Maybe Someday (4 pm), Tomboy JaxX (6 pm) and Johnny X and the Names(7 pm). The MidnightMission’s annual 5K/10K run
Commemorate their 100-year anniversary and join in the annual 5K/10K run! As one of SoCal’s largest social service providers, health and wellness is the main focus of the Midnight’s program designed to improve physical and emotional health of its clients. There has been a longstanding Running Club led by L.A. KCRW’s Summer Nights at OneColorado
Orchestral pop artists, Kan Wakan, takes the stage with an opening set from KCRW DJ Marion Hodges. Kan Wakan combine deep soul, dramatic folk, and orchestral pop for a sound you would hear in a vintage James Bond flick. Over the last few years Kan Wakan has emerged as one of LA’s strongest talents.
