Barton G.

Barton G., (861 N La Cienega Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90069; 310.388.1888), the Miami import, was suppose to open up in Los Angeles a long time ago, but the moment is finally here. Opening tonight, the restaurant was founded by restaurateur, author, and hotelier, Barton G. Weiss, and has an over-the-top, whimsical experience.

With a lush, bright, decor including white floor-to-ceiling fresh orchid wall displays, gold curtains and large magenta pillows, get ready for anything to happen in the wonderland-like atmosphere. Menu items include liquid nitrogen libations like the Sabrinatini, a Martini with orange vodka, watermelon liqueur adorned with a nitro-champagne swizzle stick and a chocolate monkey; and Buddhalicious with pear-infused vodka, lychee and cranberry juice served with a nitrogenized pear vodka popsicle.

You will find dishes like the Bucket of Bones (barbecued Korean-style short ribs, 12-hour baby back ribs, grilled lamb lollipops, chicken drumettes, house made pickles, BBQ kettle chips, and honey gorgonzola dipping sauce); Mouse Trap Mac & Cheese (spiral pasta in a homemade cheddar cheese sauce served on an over-sized wooden mouse trap); Voodoo Shrimp Rolls (sesame crusted crispy crab stuffed jumbo gulf shrimp served over a smoking brew); Samurai Tuna, (rice cracker crusted Hawaiian Ahi tuna, spicy peanut soba noodles, sizzling long beans with fermented black beans, seared shishito peppers, and pomegranate miso); and South Side Short Ribs (12-hour braised volcano short rib, forest mushrooms, Dutch marble potatoes, local market vegetables, crispy onion haystack, and smoked bourbon Dijon sauce).

Desserts include Marshmallow Pizza (piped meringue “crust,” strawberry jelly sauce, agar onion rings, and white chocolate “cheese”); Sweet Garden Pots filled with Key Lime Pie and Lemon Meringue Pie; and Cotton Candy Head, a pink cotton candy “wig” with mini strawberry short cakes. It’s all about “The Art of Being Social.”
