CHAYA Downtown’s Summer Beer Garden

From this Tuesday, May 27-Friday, August 29, CHAYA Downtown (525 S. Flower St., Los Angeles, CA 90017; 213.236.9577) kicks off the summer with the return of its 4th annual Summer Beer Garden. Enjoy a Japanese inspired BBQ menu, refreshing summer cocktails, and a curated list of beers in the restaurant’s lush outdoor patio. The kick-off event is on Thursday, May 29th, with a live performance by Almost Classy.

Feast on a variety of Kushiyaki (skewered or grilled) as well as seafood specialty items with a Japanese twist like Baked Oyster “Sriracha Dote-yaki”; Grilled Whole Sanma with Yuzu Pepper Tapenade, Ponzu; in addition to Grilled Sweet Corn with jalapeño aioli and feta cheese; Farmer’s Market Yellow Peach with Burrata Cheese, Balsamic Must, Hazelnuts, and Arugula; and a variety of BBQ skewers made on a Hibachi grill flown in from Japan.

There are a variety of specialty beers, spirits, and even alcohol infused Boozy sno-cones in a variety of flavors. Two-tone Nama (draft) bocktales, infused with Kirin Beer, and a wide selection of fresh farmer’s market flavors and selections will also be available. Additional performances as well as special guest DJs will make appearances throughout the summer including the Lee Anduze Band on June 5th and DJ Shane on July 10th & August 7th.

In addition to the traditional beer garden menu, CHAYA Downtown is also introducing their new Kaisen menu, which features the freshest local seafood available to Executive Chef Kenjo Atsushi as well as varieties that will be flown in from Japan. The star of the menu includes an impressive Kaisen seafood platter comprised of oysters, scallop yuzu kosho ceviche, lobster tempura roll, albacore poke sashimi of tuna zuke with ginger relish, and halibut with plum wasabi salsa. You can also enjoy Uni Glazed Alaskan King Crab Leg, Yellowtail with jalapeño ponzu, and a selection of fresh oysters. The Kaisen menu will be available Monday-Saturday, 5:30-10 pm and Sunday, 5-9 pm. A variety of fresh $1 oysters will also be offered daily Monday-Friday all night.
