Ace Hotel

The Ace Hotel (929 S Broadway, Los Angeles, 90015; 213.623.3233), has hit Downtown Los Angeles. When you walk into the lobby take it all in. Grab some tunes at the Amoeba station, sip on Stumptown coffee (and pastries from 7 am-7 pm), buy some Moscots and then get your butt into the photo booth. Wait, there is more fun to come. Head to the mezzanine bar, The Segovia (open until midnight), and grab a spot at one of the marble tables that looks down at the lobby. Order up a Tijuana Bible (mezcal, pineapple, jalapeño and sherry) and head 14 floors up to the rooftop.

They also have a theatre that seats 1,600 and has Mary Pickford mosaics. Events start in February, and you can book a private screening for next month and on.

L.A. Chapter is the main restaurant within the hotel, which will opening on January 17, and is from Brooklyn restaurateur Jud Mongell (Five Leaves) and Executive Chef/partner Ken Addington. Addington is cooking up a lighter side of American comfort food and going with the LA theme, everything is made with seasonal ingredients. you can wash down those seasonal ingredients with craft cocktails, bottled and barrel-aged drinks, local craft beer, and Old World wines.

That rooftop lounge, which was mentioned before, is run by L.A. Chapter it’s simply named, Upstairs. Starting January 12, you can lounge around the pool and order up small veggie-focused, Middle Eastern plates. Drinks hint at French Morocco.
