Day of the Dead Bread at La Monarca Bakery

For all of October, grab the special Pan De Muerto (Day of the Dead Bread) at La Monarca Bakery. The Day of the Dead bread embodies one of Mexico’s oldest traditions, in which family and friends gather during the eve of November 1st (All Saints Day) until the morning of November 2nd (All Souls Day) to remember and pray for friends and family members who have died. The traditional Pan de Muerto is made in the shape of a mound and decorated with bone-shaped pieces of dough to symbolize an offering to the deceased. At La Monarca Bakery, the bread is topped with bone-shaped pieces that have orange zest, creating a crunch on top of a baked pastry.
