Lock & Key

What was once Caesar Club on Vermont in K-Town is now Lock & Key, (239 S Vermont Ave., Los Angeles, 90004; 213.389.5625). It’s a self-described “Great Gatsbyesque 1920s themed speakeasy” that also has an attached food window called Stall 239 selling fried chicken sandwiches.

Once you’re inside the corridor, you’ll notice the Victorian style with marble and a black wall, covered with rows and rows of knobs to try and keys to turn. The hostess will help you out, since only one actually opens. Inside, it’s a dark, intimate spot with lots of black, gold, and green; a few little booths and a mirrored ceilings.
