M.A.K.E. by Matthew Kenney

It’s rare to go to a restaurant and have more than a foodie experience these days. I was lucky enough to check out the opening of M.A.K.E. from Matthew Kenney, the world’s leading Raw food expert where I had a delicious, eye opening, inspirational adventure. He is so passionate about educating and inspire you with healthy, delicious and vibrant Raw cuisine. In addition to M.A.K.E., the Matthew Kenney Culinary School also opened. It’s a state-of-the-art education center dedicated to the teachings of Raw and Living Cuisine at the Santa Monica Place Shopping complex.

This goes beyond a simple meal. Kenney is truly inspirational. He told us about how even though he didn’t make any money in the first two year, he stood by his mission to use whole, organic, unprocessed, plant-based foods to achieve healthy, aesthetically refined and flavorful cuisine. M.A.K.E. serves lunch and dinner of sharing plates, soups or salads. I loved the Heirloom Tomato Lasagna, (layers pistachio pesto with red pepper marinara and pine nut ricotta) and the gelato was the best I have ever had. M.A.K.E. also allows you to sample a multicourse menu at the 12-seat tasting bar, located in front of the restaurant’s exhibition-style kitchen and crafted of reclaimed wood.

Overall, M.A.K.E. and Matthew Kenney will open your eyes to a new way of eating and educating. It’s an inspirational, delicious experience.
